scholarships/financial aid
Through the generosity of many friends of Community Music School, area organizations such as the Essex Community Fund, businesses such as Essex Savings Bank, and fundraisers held throughout the year, we are able to offer financial aid to students who require assistance.
CMS does not offer merit scholarships, but we do offer partial support through CMS Scholarships for students of any age and ability level with financial need, including preschoolers and adults. We expect students who receive financial assistance to demonstrate strong motivation, good attendance and commitment to lessons. The next deadline is Friday, January 6th.

The Carolyn Greenleaf Memorial Scholarship is a merit-based award open to high school students in voice or any instrument residing in Middlesex County, Lyme or Old Lyme. The application process and awards are administered by a stand-alone organization, The Caroline Ruedig Greenleaf Memorial Scholarship Fund, through the Middlesex County Community Foundation. Two awards are given each year, one in the fall and one in the spring, for a semester of study at Community Music School. The next deadline is January 20th. The application is available through the Middlesex County Community Foundation.
Donations to the CMS Scholarship Fund are tax-deductible for income tax purposes as provided by law. The School admits students and administers its educational and financial aid programs without regard to race, color, religious belief, age, sex, nationality or ethnic origin.
Community Music School is grateful to the family and friends of Mr. Stephen Glass, a former CMS student and wonderfully kind soul, who generously donated to the Stephen Glass Musical Scholarship given in memory of Mr. Glass in 2011.
