Music Therapy
One of music’s attractions is its ability to help communicate and express feelings. Music therapy combines the fields of music education and therapy to enhance the development of life skills and can be beneficial to people of any age regardless of musical skill or background.
Music therapy has been successful in improving self-expression, communication, learning, social interaction and personal awareness. We will be happy to work with students to address whatever physical, psychological or social needs exist using music as the vehicle to reach individualized therapeutic goals.
Because each case is different, our music therapy students take private lessons. Before enrolling, we will have our Certified Music Therapist, Amy Hemenway, contact you by telephone to discuss your child’s individual issues. Often, a trial lesson or two will be arranged.
We regret that due to staffing limitations we cannot always properly serve children with special needs in our summer programs and group classes. Please discuss your child’s special behavioral or emotional needs with our Director prior to enrolling.
