Piano

Oxana LauriaOxana Lauria was classically trained in Kazan, Russia. She received her BA in both Piano Pedagogy and Theory of Music from the Kazan Music College and her MA from the Kazan State Conservatory. Oxana began teaching piano, history, and theory of music while living in Russia. Since moving to Connecticut she has continued her music education and has been a member of the Community Music School faculty since 2002. Mrs. Lauria also provides private piano lessons and does accompaniment work with some of the local school systems. She is in an active member of Connecticut State Music Teachers Association.

Oxana’s approach to teaching piano is to blend what she feels are the most beneficial aspects of both European and American methods of instruction. She relies on her experience to tailor a learning program for each student and she encourages students to participate in piano competitions, festivals and theory tests. Several of her students have gone on to pursue careers in music.
