Matt McCauley

Bass, Violin

Matt McCauleyMatt McCauley is a singer, double bass player and electronic musician who has been teaching violin and string bass at the Community Music School for five years.

Matt studied bass at Oberlin Conservatory with Jacque Posselle and Diane Meisel, electronic music with John Meisel, jazz theory and bass with Jeff Fuller and improvisational music with cellist, David Darling.

Matt is a certified improvisational music teacher (MFP) who is as comfortable with classical orchestral repertory as he is with contra-dance music. Matt has performed with the Peruvian National Symphony Orchestra, Wallingford Symphony Orchestra, Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra, Salt Marsh Opera Company, Spirit of Broadway Theater and Norma Terris Theater—Goodspeed at Chester.

He performs regularly with his jazz band ‘The Jazz Circle’, a traditional music band ‘The Mighty Breeze’, and with many of his friends. As a pit musician and vocalist, Matt performs locally with community, professional theaters and church groups including Musica Dulce, and the Connecticut Gilbert and Sullivan Society.

Matt also runs an 8-track digital recording studio creating children’s music and recording local artists.
