Faculty at Community Music School

lISA gRAY

Violin

Lisa GrayLisa Gray began her violin studies at the age of five in the Suzuki program. By the time she graduated from high school, Lisa had decided that she wanted to pursue music as a career. Lisa was accepted into the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY where she studied with Mitchell Stern and Ilya Kaler. She graduated in May 2001 with a Bachelor’s of Music in Violin Performance.

Currently, Lisa enjoys performing with the Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra in New London and played 2 seasons with the Hartford Symphony Orchestra. In February 2005, Lisa had the privilege to solo with the Coast Guard Band. She also plays for the Salt Marsh Opera, Con Brio, Eastern Connecticut Chorus, and the Mystic River Chorale. In addition to orchestral playing, Lisa performs in various chamber recitals. Past recital venues have included the Whitney Center, Pomperaug Woods, Essex Meadows, Florence Griswold, and the Coast Guard Band Recital Series.

Lisa teaches private lessons in her home and at the Community Music School where she has been a faculty member since 2002. When Lisa is not playing the violin, she spends most of her time being a mom to her 3 kids. Lisa enjoys cooking (which her husband enjoys eating), reading books, listening to music, boating with her family, and playing games with her children.
