Teaching the violin has been my passion for the past 15 years. I love being involved with the children's lives and feel privileged to be a role model. Along with the group lessons provided through CMS, I also invite my students to play for the residents at Pendelton Nursing Home, Mystic. The residents thrive on seeing the students play the violin. It is a gift to see the students interact with the residents. The students who come make a huge impact on them. My children come to Pendelton, too-- my daughters play the violin with the other students as my two boys listen to the music.Having 4 children (two 12 year old boys, one 10 year old girl, and a 6 year old girl) keeps me grounded and enables me to have a realistic expectation of what children are able to achieve. The Suzuki philosophy has given me a nurturing view on teaching and being a mom. "Character first, then ability." (Shinichi Suzuki). The Suzuki method promotes a sense of family among students, and all those involved. I love to watch all the children interact with each other.
In addition to teaching, I enjoy performing. I had the opportunity to record "Swallowtail Jig" at Sonalyst Studio for the documentary "The Real McCoy" produced by Baily Prior. I also play the violin for church, weddings and special events.
