Chantal Hovendick
Clarinet
Clarinet Instructor Chantal Hovendick has taught privately for fourteen years. She received a bachelor’s degree from the Lamont School in Denver, Colorado and a master of music degree from Florida State University. She has studied clarinet with Bil Jackson, Mark Nuccio, Frank Kowalsky, and Ramon Kireilis.
Chantal has performed with the Colorado Springs Symphony, the Aspen Festival Orchestra, the Tallahassee Symphony, the Florida Orchestra, the Sarasota Opera Orchestra, the Hartford Festival Orchestra, and the Eastern Connecticut Symphony. She has participated in several music festivals and has won competitions in Belgium and Sweden. Ms. Hovendick has been a member of the United States Coast Guard Band since 2001 and performs with the Band’s woodwind quintet and clarinet quartet. In addition to performing classical clarinet, she also enjoys playing in a polka band and performing klezmer music.
Chantal enjoys vegetarian cooking and baking, crocheting, yoga, and lives on the shoreline with her two cats, Zoe and Chloe.
