Music Therapy
Amy Hemenway, MT-BC, is a Music Therapist, Board Certified, who enjoys teaching children with disabilities through music. Amy’s mission as a teacher is to help children with disabilities recognize “that they are not only special, but have so much to teach us.” She also teaches group classes that introduce young children to music in creative ways, such as “Music Makers” and “Introduction to Guitar.”
Amy’s passion is for singing as well as teaching. She is a cantor at St. Patrick Church in East Hampton, and is a former member of the Greater Middletown Chorale. She has been married to her “wonderful husband, Kirk,” for 3 years and gave birth to her first child, Stephen, this summer. “We enjoy going for walks, reading books and singing lots of songs.”
Amy teaches music therapy and guitar at the Community Music School. She has a Bachelor of Music degree from Marywood University. Her favorite quote by Victor Hugo sums up her love of music. “Music expresses that which cannot be put into words and cannot remain silent.”
