JOBS AT COMMUNITY MUSIC SCHOOL
Located in the Centerbrook section of Essex, just off Route 9, CMS is easy to reach from most of Eastern Connecticut via I-95, Route 80, or Route 9. Instructors who live more than 20 miles away are paid a modest gasoline supplement.
We are happy to receive resumes at any time, and will respond immediately. We can generally anticipate faculty vacancies or additional needs, but it is helpful to have resumes on file in case of immediate openings. (See below)
We are open year-'round and operate on a semester basis: Fall Semester mid-Sept. to late Jan. Spring Semester early Feb. to mid-June Summer Term late June to mid-Aug.
You may teach as few as 1 day per week, or as many as 7, depending on your schedule and our studio availability. Programs and schedules are arranged at the beginning of each semester. Faculty willing to teach during the summer notify us of their availability. Our faculty members sign a contract with us for the academic year, and are employees of the school (and will receive W-2 forms, not 1099's).
All of our instructors have a Bachelor's degree or beyond. We are looking for teachers who are committed to providing outstanding music education and who will be enthusiastic supporters of the school and its programs. Our student base includes both children and adults with varying levels of ability, experience and musical aspirations. We do not have a set school-wide curriculum; rather, individual instructors choose their teaching materials and methods.
