Digital piano lab

When we expanded our facilities in 2009, we were thrilled to gain space for a new piano lab.

These Yamaha YPG-635 Digital Pianos are fantastic state-of-the art instruments that will enable us to expand our curriculum in keyboard education for group instruction and group performance.

“YPG” stands for Yamaha Portable Grand – these are not your average electronic instruments!  Their weighted keys and foot pedals feel just like a “real” piano.  Features include lyric, chord and notation display, USB connectivity, 6-track recording, top-quality digital sound effects, and so on.  These are the same instruments professionals use in their studios.

Here are a few examples of the capabilities:

  • Group instruction for beginners, both children and adults

  • Ensemble instruction at any level

  • 2-piano, 4-hand or even 4-piano, 8-hand performances

  • Composition classes, with interface to midi files and computer software

  • Specialty classes, such as jazz improvisation

The possibilities are endless!  In addition to the classes we offer each semester, we will be happy to arrange private instruction that will help budding composers and performers get the most out of their home keyboards and synthesizers.
